The project entitled as “Lorry Transport management system “ aims at computerizing the details of the goods transport management system of the lorry booking office. A truck is a type of motor vehicle commonly used for carrying goods and materials. Some light trucks are relatively small, similar in size to a passenger automobile. Commercial transportation or fire trucks can be quite large and can also serve as a platform for specialized equipment.
The project is used to track the trip details of the transport activities of the company. The project contains details such as vehicle, driver, trip , insurance, fuel, alteration, license renewal . The system takes care of the goods which are transported from one place to another place and it helps us to calculate the goods inward/outward as well as driver and cleaner salary. The transport system can able to calculate the commission of the trip and also easily identify whether it is loss or profit for the corresponding trip.
The old system is being done manually. All the data collected are processed as hard copies. They maintain the records as hard copies in the files. The preparation of is tough and the trip details calculation is hard to calculate.
The project includes trip details and their employee wages, which is  important to the company. The various reports are generated on vehicle, drivers, maintenance, fuel, insurance, license renewal etc as required by the transport office.
The project is designed using Visual Studio.NET 2008 with VB.NET as coding language and MS SQL Server 2005 database.
The proposed system is to automate the activities of the transport office. The proposed system aims to maintain the transport related work in a computer.
The manual records are totally avoided. It can be able to monitor the status at any time with high speed. Only the administrator has all privileges to access this software.
The unauthorized cannot able to access this software because it is highly secured. The system provides pleasant and sophisticated Environment to the  Admin user. The details of the trip, insurance renewal, driver license renewal and the fuel consumption are maintained, updated and the reports are generated.
